Savory foods should consist of 80% of what we eat in a day (the other 20% being fruits, nuts, and breads). That may be quite a shock to some of us who simply alternated between flavors of bagels for meals!! (who me?? never...) However, meat and fish provide some of the richest sources of vitamins, amino acids, fats and minerals of any food. A balance of vegetables, fats, and proteins throughout the day stabilize blood sugar, boost immunity, nourish the gut lining, and most importantly, provide the body with essential nutrients which nourish the body and brain. Eating vegetables with meats and fats also help increase nutrient absorption and maintain the body's alkalinity. Make sure to buy good quality meats that are fresh or frozen, preferably from a local source you trust!
